Born and raised in Fairfax County, Matt grew up playing baseball from childhood into college at Longwood University. Throughout his athletic career, Matt has done different styles of training from body building to powerlifting. Matt joined a CrossFit gym in 2013 in the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond, Virginia.

In 2015 Matt decided to pursue his Level 1 CrossFit Certificate. Within the first year of coaching, Matt acquired CrossFit Gymnastics Level 1, CrossFit Movement and Mobility and attend Carl Paoli’s Freestyle Connection Seminar. Between 2015 and 2019, Matt acquired his CrossFit Level 2 and CrossFit Kids certificates, while also attended a week long Coaches Mentorship with Jason Leydon at CrossFit Milford.
Matt’s next goal as a coach is to acquire his Level 3 with CrossFit in 2024.
Briefly, Matt competed locally in competitions like SuperFit, Gangs of the Mid-Atalantic and of course other online qualifiers like The Open.
With over 8 years of coaching experience, his light heartedness, and goofy humor – Matt prides himself on trying to adapt his coaching style to the need of the athlete. Through his own training Matt strives to lead by example showing his passion, focus and discipline.

Matt is a passionate person willing to go the extra mile for the athlete willing to put in the work. He’s also a man of many hats, as he works as a full-time firefighter, a dog dad to his boy Cooper, and could talk your ear off about ice cream and baseball.
