Red grew up playing soccer and wrestling, and took an early interest in weightlifting. After settling down in Richmond VA, he dutifully attended a globo-gym for close to a decade working on his bench press and bicep curls. After seeing someone combine jumping on a plyo-box with deadlifts at the YMCA, he got curious and began researching functional fitness. He started CrossFit in 2012 and immediately knew he had found his calling. He competed locally and enjoyed the sport so much he decided to share his passion and pursue coaching in 2017. Red is in constant pursuit of the latest sleep, nutrition, gear / equipment, and functional fitness news. He is focused on training for longevity and wants 100 years of healthspan – high quality years at the latter part of life so he can throw down with his future grandkids in the gym.
